Half-Day Away Workshop
As we bridge from summer into autumn let's take time to linger, to leave the busy-ness of our lives and slow down enough to listen for what calls for our attention.
Join me in a ‘Half-Day Away’ online (via Zoom) 9 AM - 1PM PT.
See what impact the world has made on us. We will spend time with poetry; you can relax & receive a poetry dive, with Reckless Writing and time in silence in your own space. This is open to anyone. This is not a writers workshop but a way to explore and just get curious.
We will take time. Climb into this time without outside expectations. Without need of being something to someone except being ourself to ourselves. We will ride with poetry into whatever is showing up for each of us. I will invite you into writing into getting curious about your own thoughts as we let them rise to the surface and we catch a glimpse of them. Let's notice and note what surfaces.
Bring pen and paper. Get comfortable. Find a space where you will be uninterrupted. Ask your housemates to honor this time of silence between you. We will move, we will write, we will bask in this oasis of time outside of time. This space where we are invited fully into ourselves.
Hope to see you there.

Conditions of Happiness
Take a bed in a quiet room and wake
without pain —
a kingdom is not necessary.
Just as one bird proves flight is possible,
a crumb of bread
establishes sun and wheat,
establishes heat, attests to the presence
of a loaf and hand.
When you do not measure time,
each day is a little year,
the whole expanse in miniature,
every season
an occasion for peace.
You have what you need
is what the birds sing all morning,
and the small boat on the river
tells us again —
If there is no wind, then row.
